Refund & Escrow Policy
Effective date: January 28, 2026
This policy explains how escrow funding, releases, refunds, disputes, and chargebacks are handled on SkillBid.
1. Escrow funding
Clients may fund a contract into escrow before work begins. Funds remain in escrow until they are released to the freelancer, refunded to the client, or otherwise resolved through the dispute process.
2. When refunds may be approved
- Work has not started and both parties agree to cancel.
- The freelancer fails to deliver within agreed timelines and a dispute is resolved in the client’s favor.
- The contract is canceled due to fraud, policy violations, or compliance reasons.
- Other outcomes determined by SkillBid through the dispute process.
3. Non-refundable or limited-refundable items
Payment processor fees, network fees, and certain compliance-related costs may be non-refundable. If a transaction is reversed or refunded, SkillBid may deduct non-recoverable fees where permitted by law and processor rules.
4. Disputes
If a dispute is opened, both parties may be required to submit evidence (messages, deliverables, milestones, and supporting documents). SkillBid may decide to release funds to the freelancer, refund the client, or split funds based on the evidence and Platform records. SkillBid’s escrow decision is final for purposes of the Platform.
5. Refund timelines
Refund timelines depend on the payment method and processor:
- Card / bank payments: typically 5–14 business days (processor and bank dependent).
- Mobile money: timelines vary by provider.
6. Chargebacks
Unauthorized chargebacks may result in account suspension and loss of Platform protections. Where allowed, SkillBid may recover disputed amounts, fees, and associated costs. If you believe a transaction is unauthorized, contact support@myskillbid.com immediately before initiating a chargeback.
