Terms of Service
Effective date: January 28, 2026
Welcome to SkillBid (“SkillBid”, “we”, “us”, “our”). SkillBid is an online marketplace that connects clients with independent freelancers for professional services (“Services”). By accessing or using SkillBid (the “Platform”), you agree to these Terms of Service (“Terms”).
If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Platform.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a legally binding contract to use the Platform. By using SkillBid, you represent and warrant that you meet these requirements.
2. SkillBid’s role
SkillBid provides technology to facilitate introductions, contracting, escrow funding, communications, and dispute workflows. SkillBid is not a party to agreements between clients and freelancers and does not act as an employer, agent, or broker of any user. Freelancers are independent contractors and are responsible for their own taxes, licensing, permits, and compliance obligations.
3. Accounts and security
You agree to provide accurate account information and keep it updated. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity under your account. If you suspect unauthorized access, contact us immediately at support@myskillbid.com.
4. Contracts, escrow, and payments
Clients may fund a contract into escrow. Escrow funds are held until the client approves work for release or until a dispute is resolved under Platform rules. SkillBid may use third-party payment processors and may perform reasonable fraud, risk, and compliance checks.
5. Fees
SkillBid may charge platform fees, payment processing fees, and (where applicable) currency conversion fees. Fees and charges are displayed before you complete a transaction. By proceeding, you authorize SkillBid and its payment partners to charge the applicable amounts.
6. Disputes
If a dispute arises, users should first attempt resolution directly. If unresolved, a dispute may be opened on the Platform and each party may be asked to provide relevant evidence (messages, deliverables, milestones, and other supporting information). SkillBid may decide to release funds to the freelancer, refund the client, or split funds based on its review of the evidence and Platform records. SkillBid’s escrow decision is final for purposes of the Platform.
7. Prohibited conduct
- Illegal activity, fraud, money laundering, or attempts to bypass compliance checks.
- Harassment, threats, hate speech, or abusive conduct.
- Attempting to bypass escrow or platform fees (“off-platform” contracting) in a way that violates Platform rules.
- Uploading malware, phishing, or attempting to access other accounts or systems without authorization.
- Misrepresentation of identity, qualifications, deliverables, or ownership of content.
8. Intellectual property
Users retain ownership of content they submit. You grant SkillBid a limited, non-exclusive license to host, store, display, and process your content solely to operate and improve the Platform, enforce these Terms, and comply with law.
9. Disclaimer and limitation of liability
SkillBid provides the Platform “as is” and “as available”. To the maximum extent permitted by law, SkillBid disclaims all warranties, express or implied, and is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages. SkillBid’s total liability for any claim is limited to the fees SkillBid actually received from you in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.
10. Termination
SkillBid may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms, if we suspect fraud or abuse, or if required by law or payment partners. You may close your account by contacting support@myskillbid.com.
11. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Platform after updates means you accept the revised Terms.
